CENTENNIAL SONG WRITING CONTEST 2020
Terms and Conditions
ENTRY CRITERIA
All contestants must be
Marinduque residents and are enrolled in any school or college in the province.
Only one song per student or
group is allowed.
Performers may or may not be
the composer/s.
Songs may be collaborative
but all writers must be acknowledged.
PURPOSE
The song competition seeks to
find an original appealing song for the Marinduque Centennial Year 2020, which
will be used in all events related to the Centennial Commemoration.
THEME
Write a song as that promotes
unity and as a Marinduqueño who loves his/her island-province.
All musical styles will be
accepted.
JUDGES
There will be a panel of judges
chosen by the Marinduque Centennial Committee.
The judges’ decisions will be
final.
CRITERIA used for Judging:
The winning song will be
judged on the following criteria:
- General appeal of the song.
- Length of the song: Between 2 and 4 minutes.
- ‘Sing-ability’ for a wide age range of people.
LYRICS
- A lyric sheet must be provided
- Use of Marinduqueno Tagalog spoken in the six
municipalities of the province are encouraged and welcomed. (Please provide
translations in English of peculiar words, if necessary).
MUSIC
- Standard of musical composition and its
components: Tips: Intro, verse, chorus, hook (a passage or phrase, that is used in popular music to make
a song appealing and to "catch the ear of the listener"), solo, and
outro (outro: the concluding section of a piece of music)
- Song melody and rhythmic content of the lyrics
- Dynamics (loud and soft variations)
- Backing vocals/harmonies (optional)
PERFORMANCE
- A good sound quality
- Clarity of singing/speaking
- Musical instruments well played, accuracy in
timing and notes
- Integrity of the piece as a whole (style of music
and lyrics should match)
PRIZES
The winning song will
receive:
Cash Prize (to be announced, still to be determined by the Centennial Committee), gift
items and the chance to play their song live in centennial events, and for
local cable TV programs, and for official social media features.
An additional prize for
their school/college to fund any school project of their choice.
If you miss out on the big
prize there will also be prizes for all the top ten entries.

of this document following the Terms and Conditions. Scan and return or post.
HOW TO SEND YOUR SONG
Email your song as an MP3.
The email should specify the
title, the name of composer/s, the name of your school, the signed entry form
(scanned or posted), a printable copy of the lyrics and chord suggestions to: CENTENNIAL SONG COMPETITION SECRETARIAT

DO NOT send a music video.
If you can’t email send your
song as a CD or on a USB stick (clearly label with the title, composer, school)
with the signed Entry Form, a printable copy of the lyrics and chord
suggestions to:

Due to administration limits
we will not return your entry. Make yourselves a copy to keep.
COPYRIGHT
You will need to sign the Entry form declaring this is your own work.
All students 18 and over are
required to sign the Entry Form (if under 18, you must have the signature of a
parent or guardian on the entry form.)
You will also be signing to
allow the Marinduque Centennial Committee free license to use your song for
promotional (that is non-commercial) purposes.
The Competition CLOSES midnight 30 October 2019 (Submit
earlier to be on the safe side, don’t wait for the Deadline)
